Log in to your WordPress account regularly EVEN if you don’t post.
As you can see, my last post was a couple of years ago. I don’t remember the last time I logged in, although I kept meaning to.
Today, I woke up around 4 AM and couldn’t go back to sleep, and for some reason felt the urge to wake up The Digital Hobo.
Well, as it turns out, I was locked out. The system didn’t recognize my username or my email. I tried playing with Hostgator, and it didn’t go well – the site crashed.

See that image up there? That “W” was me, bobbing along in the ocean with absolutely no clue.
After about 2 hours with tech support, The Digital Hobo is alive and breathing, but barely. Someone had created a user with another login name and email, effectively locking me out of my own house.
All’s well now – I think. That user has been disabled and I have my identity back. *Fingers crossed*
I promise to learn from this incident and log in regularly. Update WP and plugins.
And, I’m going the extra mile. I’m going to actually write!
