Today, I discovered something that just might be the thing I need: Four Minutes.
What the heck is Four Minutes? A little background here…
You see, Anxiety is my middle name. And anyone who has anxiety issues would know that every day can be an hour-by-hour struggle – even minute-by-minute.
Everyone’s got their way(s) of dealing with it, and sometimes, the go-to method doesn’t even work!
Me, I’ve been hacking it. Sometimes I can push myself hard enough. Sometimes I just can’t do anything.
Everyone says meditation is key, but I just can’t sit still for a long period without doing anything. My mind goes faster than Barry Allen, thinking of all the things I need to do; all the things that could go wrong; and on and on and on…
Then I “met” Four Minutes.
It’s not really the name of the meditation – the name does not matter.
What matters is this: I realize that four minutes can make a whole lot of difference.
Whenever my best friend – name starts with an “A” – comes knocking at the door, I call Four Minutes.
I sit down. I close my eyes. Breathe. Listen to the guide.
Believe it or not, Four Minutes does the trick.
Even though I may have to call Four Minutes several times during the day, it’s worth it. Heck, if we can take a 15-minute break to grab a snack or whatever, what’s four minutes?
I use the Yoga Studio app for this particular meditation session, but I am sure you can use whatever tool you prefer. The bottom line is that you give yourself a few minutes to breathe and re-orient. You’ll thank yourself for it.
